The late Jack and Eleanor Bendat were dedicated advocates for improving the health outcomes and wellbeing of Western Australians. Their kindness will leave an indelible mark for our communities for many years to come.
For more than two decades, the Bendat family’s philanthropy has enabled world-class cancer care, ground-breaking medical research, and essential support for people in Western Australia.
Through the Bendat Family Foundation, the family generously supported the establishment of the Bendat Family Comprehensive Cancer Centre at St John of God Subiaco Hospital - the first clinic of its kind in Australia. This centre, which was opened in 2008, helps patients to access all the services and support they need, for all cancer types, at one location.
Jack and Eleanor also played a pivotal role in founding several Bendat Horizon Houses in Western Australia, from 2003 onwards. These critical services continue to offer housing and essential support to vulnerable young people facing or at risk of homelessness.
Significant advancements in health care are enabled through the Bendat Respiratory Research and Development Group (BRRD), which aims to better understand lung and respiratory disease to develop advanced treatments through translational research. Thanks to the Bendat Family Foundation, the BRRD is at the forefront of medical research into respiratory medicine and respiratory oncology.
We consider it a great honour to carry the Bendat family’s legacy forward, and are immensely grateful for their enduring support and for improving the lives and health outcomes of Western Australians.
The impact of the Bendat Family Foundation’s support will be felt by our patients for generations to come.
