St John of God Health Care and St John of God Foundation are saddened to hear of the passing of highly respected businessman and notable Geelong community leader, Frank Costa.

Frank had a successful business career, growing his family’s Geelong grocery store into a national wholesale organisation. This success led him to hold prominent roles at a number of Geelong organisations and groups, including being President of the Geelong Football Club (Geelong Cats). For his contributions to the community, he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 1997 and appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2015.
Frank was a long-time supporter of St John of God Geelong Hospital as a founding member of the hospital’s Community Council. His donations to St John of God Foundation supported the hospital’s redevelopment in 2014, as well as the upgrade of the day oncology centre and special care nursery.
He was patron of St John of God Health Care’s Horizon House Program, with his contributions enabling the addition of two new homes to provide stability and support for vulnerable young people in the region.
We thank Frank for his significant contribution to our organisation and share our deepest condolences with his family and loved ones.
