The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2024, ‘Now More Than Ever’, is a reminder that our dedication to reconciliation and fighting for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people must continue.
At St John of God Health Care, our Vision, Mission and Values reinforce our organisational commitment to working towards reconciliation, and we acknowledge this time of deep reflection, truth-telling, education, and understanding our history.
Our 2024-2026 Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan outlines our continued commitment to reconciliation and our intent to build on meaningful partnerships and opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
I acknowledge the pain of history and commit to creating a path of healing, and I hope and believe that we can move to a place of equity, justice, and partnership together.
There might be times where the journey to reconciliation is difficult, but this is not the time to disengage. This week, and all year long, we have the opportunity to build on the momentum and important work that has been done so far. Now more than ever, we must continue the work and continue moving forward.
