Entrusted to care – stewards of service

In the coming days, we will celebrate St John of God Health Care’s Foundation Day, an occasion for reflecting on the remarkable legacy of the Sisters of St John of God, founded over 150 years ago, on 7^th October in Wexford, Ireland.

Foundation Day provides us with an opportunity to recognise the profound contributions, philanthropy and visionary spirit of the Sisters, which lives on today in the service of our caregivers. The Sisters’ dedication and ambition to bring hope and dignity to those most in need remains an enduring inspiration as we work together in support of our healing Mission and Vision.

This Foundation Day, we also draw upon the wisdom of 1 Peter 4:10:

'Like good stewards... serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.'

This verse encapsulates the values embraced by our community and dedicated caregivers—a shared commitment to serving those in need in our daily lives. Together, we are able to ensure world-class, person-centred care is available to patients, clients and their families.

Every day, I am grateful for our dedicated caregivers and compassionate supporters, as your kindness enables us to carry forward the proud legacy and Mission of St John of God Health Care. Thank you.
