On Sunday, 20 October, St John of God Foundation proudly participated in the 2024 Telethon Family Festival in Perth's CBD. This vibrant festival marked the 57th annual Telethon weekend, bringing together families from across the state for a day of fun, music, and, most importantly, raising funds to improve health outcomes for WA kids now and into the future.
St John of God Foundation is grateful to have been selected once again this year as one of the many charity beneficiaries of Channel 7 Telethon Trust’s generous support. Telethon funding means that state-of-the-art maternity and paediatric equipment will continue to be available in our hospitals, to help provide the very best care for vulnerable babies and their families. This includes new technology and equipment, such as:
- Neonatal Ventilators to provide vital, temporary ventilation whilst transporting newborn babies with critical or life threatening conditions.
- Panda Warmers with ResusView for Special Care Nurseries, keeping babies warm, safe and comfortable while in hospital.
- Baby CPR Mannequin sets, helping to prepare caregivers for emergency situations.
- An Accuvein Finder to help caregivers with being able to find veins as quickly and safely as possible, reducing anxiety and distress in young patients.
- An Airvo Respiratory Device to support young patients with respiratory problems
During the Telethon Family Festival, our caregivers hosted a booth, inviting attendees to discover how Telethon funding enables compassionate care in our hospitals. Families had the chance to celebrate health care heroes by dressing up as doctors or nurses and taking photos in front of a hospital-themed backdrop.
“We were honoured to be part of this iconic event and deeply appreciative of Telethon’s support,” said Hannah Weir, Associate Director of Philanthropy at St John of God Foundation.
“The generous funding from Channel 7 Telethon Trust will directly benefit countless families in Western Australia during the precious early days of their babies’ lives.”
