Today we celebrate the 30 year anniversary of St John of God Foundation, and acknowledge with gratitude every one of the compassionate and generous people that have supported hope and healing in our communities over the past three decades.
The kind and generous donors, fundraisers and volunteers who have made a life-changing difference through their compassionate support.
The many caregivers who have provided the inspiration for giving through their compassionate care over the past 30 years and beyond.
And of course, the Sisters of St John of God, who first recognised the need to raise funds for areas of unmet need in our communities and established the Foundation on this day in 1994. We owe a debt of gratitude to the Sisters for their vision and leadership, and it is our privilege to uphold their legacy and continue to innovate, as they did before us.
Over the past 30 years, more than $75 million has been donated by the community in support of St John of God Health Care patients and clients.
To every individual, family, organisation, and caregiver who has donated, or generously given their time including our current and past Foundation Board members, third party fundraisers, volunteer fundraising committees and caregivers, I extend my heartfelt gratitude. It’s only with your support, that we have been able to create transformational spaces for world-class health care, purchase state-of-the-art equipment, undertake leading medical research and support vulnerable young people through our community programs. Every story of human impact is a testament to your generosity.
As we celebrate 30 years of life-changing community support, we also reflect on how philanthropy will help to shape the future of our organisation and as we evolve to respond to the health care needs of our growing communities. We are supporting St John of God Health Care’s efforts to provide transformational mental health facilities and care for veterans and first responders. In WA, we are trailblazing research into respiratory illnesses will mean even greater impact for patients – and potentially across the globe.
Building on our proud history and walking side by side with amazing supporters like you, we can look forward to many more years of making a difference to the health and lives of Australians.
